Just half an hour driving from Ohrid on the way toward the Albanian border you will arrive to the village of Trpejca.

A small cute fisherman village, with narrow uphill streets and breathtaking views, crystal clear water and small wild beaches.

The lake in this part of Ohrid looks like a sea, even the water is different than the other parts, and it is always visited by lot of tourists and locals.

This is why this village is also known as the Macedonian St.Tropez.

In the village are living more than 200 people during the whole year.

HOW TO ARRIVE?

The best way is by car or boat. During summer you can find some shared transfer like mini van going there but in low season only by car or boat.

You need to be prepared to drive through the mountain and the road is not in perfect condition.

Once you go out of the Ohrid city center just follow the road signs to St. Naum, you cannot get lost, there is just one road to arrive to the village by car.

If you are going in a high season you need to leave your car on the upper parking next to the road. The parking down into the village is always crowded and it will be impossible to go out.

WHERE TO STAY?

In the village you can find mostly private accommodation. During high season my advice is to book a bit in advance. Best place to book the accommodation is on Booking or Airbnb.

WHAT TO DO AND SEE?

First thing to do is to swim in the crystal clear water and chill on some of the empty wild beaches few minutes walk from the village. In the evening you can watch the beautiful sunset by the lake. In the village you can also rent a paddle board

Just 7 km away from Trpejca you can visit The Bay of Bones a reconstructed village of stilt houses displaying Bronze & Iron Age items recovered from Lake Ohrid.

When you get tired from the beach you can go up to the mountains of the National park Galicica, there is one nice panoramic view known as “Koritski Rid“, perfect place to watch the sunset

WHAT TO EAT?

We arrived to the most important question 🙂 Trpejca is a very small village, there are just two local shops and few restaurants, all of them by the lake.

During our visit the restaurants had very weird working time, from 10 am to 19 pm. Early morning you cannot find place where to have a breakfast.

The best option is to buy some food from the big markets in Ohrid and take it with you, so you can make the breakfast in your accommodation or take some snacks and drinks by the beach.

For lunch or dinner you must try some local food, like salads, meat and of course fish, the trout is a must!
